Data Saves the Supply Chain Day

Our Story

The current state of the supply change is wreaking havoc on organizations’ ability to meet market demands and gain market share. To address these challenges, organizations are looking to advance their supply change analytics to make better decisions around their vendors, inventory, logistics, and labor.

The largest hearing aid company in the U.S., with over 5,000 employees globally and 28 facilities in more than 100 markets, recognized it was time for an upgrade in their supply chain data.

The Challenge

The client knew the lack of democratized data made them susceptible to a supply chain fulfillment crisis. The main challenges they faced included:

  • Data was stored in excel sheets making it difficult to analyze and make strategic decisions around vendors, logistics, labor, and purchasing
  • Lack of on-demand and customized reporting impacted their ability to surface trends and adapt quickly

Without advanced analytics and a centralized data hub, the company was unable to hold 20 manufacturing facilities accountable to quality standards and deadlines. Given these facilities operated as global suppliers to 120+ different country distribution networks, the potential down-stream impacts were substantial.

Our Approach

Our team of data experts leveraged their expertise by:

  1. Assessing the data landscape; ERP, POS, VMS
  2. Establishing data governance and a master data management (MDM)
  3. Building a trusted layer of data for the various functions
  4. Tying it all together in one, consolidated Supply Chain Hub on PowerBI

By transitioning the company to a supply chain data hub, we created sustainable reporting channels and went from weekly to hourly analytics reporting. Customized reports, such as executive scorecards, global sales dashboards, retail dashboards, automated financials, and people analytics, provided leadership teams accurate and up-to-date information, allowing them to make faster, and better, decisions.

Long term, the data infrastructure developed will drive sophistication, accelerate timelines, democratize data, driving supply chain sustainability.
